Character's name: Ashura Character's age: 300 years, appears to be around 7-8 Character's gender: Sexless, but will be referred to by male pronouns for the sake of convenience. Series the character is from: RG Veda Point in canon they're being taken from: Volume 2, right before the revival of Shuratou, just as he has sunk into the ground of Kusumapura. EDIT: Now updated to volume 6. Brief background: When Thunder God Taishakuten betrayed the God King and usurped the throne of Heaven, the Ashura clan was entirely wiped out, save for one child, the sole offspring of the lord of the Ashuras, whose great powers protected him and sent him into a long and undisturbed sleep in a magically created forest. Three hundred years pass, and Yasha-ou, the king of the greatest warrior clan in Heaven, following a prophecy that he believes will lead to the destruction of Taishakuten’s cruel rule, is able to break the seal protecting the baby and thus free Ashura from his long sleep. Because of his decision to awake and shelter the child of a race whose mere mentioning is considered taboo, Taishakuten orders the slaughter of the entire Yasha tribe, leaving Yasha-ou and Ashura as the last surviving members of their respective race. Having only each other, the two outlaws decide to together travel to Zenmi castle to bring down the cruel God King and restore peace in the world. Personality: Despite his three hundred years, Ashura is still very much a child, with all the childish naivety that comes with it. He is generally very trusting and delights in meeting new people, although he also likes to tease them while not being particularly keen on being teased in return. Ashura can be stubborn, single-minded and a little bratty, but he also cares very much about the people he loves and is very concerned about their safety. He’s an emotional person and his mood changes quickly. Ashura is thought to be a bringer of misfortune and death, and thus considers himself an “unwanted child”. He is therefore often in doubts about whether anyone truly loves him. Being an innocent child, he also sees the prophesied quest in a different light than the others – while most of the people joining his and Yasha’s journey are motivated by avenging the death of their loved ones, Ashura simply wishes to see his mother, as well as ask Taishakuten the reasons for his actions. However, there is another side to Ashura’s personality. The Ashuras were gods of war and destruction, something that results in his darker side sometimes breaking through, displaying a cold, cruel person who takes genuine pleasure in the suffering and death of others. | |||||||||
